CHI Franciscan Continues to be a Champion for New Phoebe House
Mar. 2, 2019
For more than 125 years, CHI Franciscan has been committed to building healthy communities, including caring for the poor and underserved. Supporting organizations like New Phoebe House Association is a natural fit for the organization, whose purpose is to serve and care for all people in mind, body and spirit.
“New Phoebe House is vital to the community by providing housing and fundamental support to mothers and children impacted by substance abuse,” said Jesse Kasten, Executive Division Director, Women’s and Children’s Service Line for CHI Franciscan. “We’re proud to sponsor Illuminating Paths: New Phoebe House Gala to ensure these important services remain available to women in Pierce County.”
Based in Tacoma, CHI Franciscan has a team of more than 12,000 physicians, providers, nurses and staff who provide expert, compassionate medical care at its 11 hospitals and 232 primary and specialty care clinics throughout the greater Puget Sound. CHI Franciscan provided nearly $200 million in community benefit last year, including charity care, uncompensated care, and community programs.
New Phoebe House provides a valuable connection for CHI Franciscan to identify, understand and address unmet needs that still exist in the community.
“I was so impressed with the incredible Phoebe women I met at the event last year,” said Kasten. “New Phoebe House gives them much-needed stability and support. What they deal with – it’s too much for someone to do on their own, and they need the consistency, safety, and dependability New Phoebe House provides.”
CHI Franciscan is excited to be a part of this year’s event to champion these brave women and support the future of New Phoebe House.
Thank you, CHI Franciscan! You are truly making a difference for our community!
Fircrest Children’s Dentistry Provides Sponsorship for Illuminating Paths
Feb. 27, 2019
New Phoebe House welcomes Fircrest Children’s Dentistry as a sponsor of 2019 Illuminating Paths: New Phoebe House Gala. Doctor Stephen Beck has practiced at Fircrest Children’s Dentistry for nine years, providing each child who walk through his doors with compassion, kindness and clean and healthy teeth. As a past president of the Washington State Academy of Pediatric Dentists and currently a Trustee for the Western Society of Pediatric Dentistry, Dr. Beck believes in providing good care for his patients and giving back to his community. When he’s not seeing patients in his clinic, you can also find him treating patients at Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital.
Dr. Beck’s wife, Jana, is also a strong supporter of the New Phoebe House mission. With a background in child development and counseling and experience working at the Center for Hope in Marana, Arizona, which is similar to New Phoebe House, she has always had a passion for reuniting moms and children in the community. Jana appreciates the long-term stability New Phoebe House provides and knows this approach garners strong results. “The changes these mothers need to make can’t be done overnight and the way New Phoebe House approaches treatment is truly great for the family framework.”
Thank you, Fircrest Children’s Dentistry and Jana Beck for supporting New Phoebe House!
Ticor Title Secures Shoot for the Stars Sponsorship
Feb. 25, 2019
We are pleased to welcome Ticor Title as a Shoot for the Stars sponsor for our 2019 gala, Illuminating Paths. This sponsorship was spearheaded by Lucy Ritchie, VP and Account Executive with Ticor Title and Escrow. As an organization they chose to sponsor the event because they understand the crucial need for more funding in order to provide chemical and alcohol dependency treatment on-site at The New Phoebe House.
Lucy has always had a passion for empowering women and was a gender, ethics, and labor studies major at the University of Washington. While she is not able to use this degree as originally intended, she has chosen to support groups that advocate and support women. Domestic abuse and addiction do not discriminate, and she firmly believes everyone deserves the opportunity for a second chance. When asked what is different about New Phoebe House, Lucy stated, “New Phoebe House is unique because of the support, love, and life skills training the women receive. The approach is different from other similar organizations, and it’s incredible to see the women succeed.” She went on to say “These women and children get a real chance to lead a productive and healthy life with the dignity and self-respect we all deserve. And it doesn’t end when they graduate. Once they have been through the program, these women often become leaders and mentors to other women.”
Thank you, Ticor Title for your continued generosity!
Colvos Construction Seeks Health and Wellness for Tacoma's Most Vulnerable
January 5, 2019
New Phoebe House is thrilled to welcome Colvos Construction as a “Shoot for the Stars” sponsor for our 2019 gala. This is Colvos’ second year sponsoring our event and we are grateful for their support.
Colvos is a Tacoma-based general contractor led by President, Devin Page and Vice President, Anders Bjorn. The company was founded in 2016 with a focus on not only delivering excellence, but also on building relationships and community. Colvos is committed to creating a company culture that is focused on giving back to the communities they serve. Some of their work includes projects for Infoblox, Ivar’s, and Tacoma Public Schools.
Their involvement with New Phoebe House came via introduction from Julia Schiro, with Chicago Title. Julia spoke passionately of the organization’s impact in our community, and of her own family’s struggles with addiction and trauma. It hit home for Colvos as they see the impact of homeless first-hand. There are many mornings when they arrive at their office along Tacoma’s Opera Alley only to see people in need of help.
For Devin and Anders, it became clear that as a growing Tacoma company, Colvos needed to support change. “There is no better organization than New Phoebe House,” said Devin. “Their long-term dedication to mothers and children in need is not only unique – it works, and it is an honor to be a part of that.”
They are especially excited for this year’s event, which is March 2, 2019 at Tacoma’s Hotel Murano. Devin noted, “Last year’s event was so much fun. We spent the evening socializing with friends and learning more about the organization. I really enjoyed hearing the heartfelt and emotional stories from the Phoebe’s themselves. They’ve overcome so much in life!”
Please join us this year to help us all celebrate our hard work, and to help ensure the financial security of our wonderful organization. Join Colvos as a sponsor or purchase tickets by clicking here.
